In conclusion

i believe that the video was okay, we all believed that there were a few faults and changes that could have been made. such examples as the zoom in on Adams face could have been done better to lessen the blur. along with the addition of certain shots could have also been added. our story plot was also very confusing and was very hard to follow and it would have been better if we was to add more detail into the story to make it better to understand.

We have lots of pans, panning from low to high, to left to right. I think panning is almost the most effective shot because it covers a vast area of what the audience is supposed to be looking at. As a group I think the shots used were effective and best fitted for what the film presented. Other shots included; slight zooms, extreme close ups, truck in shot, medium shot, extreme zoom in, over the shoulder shot and a full shot of the area. Most of these were repeated a few times.

The plot of the film is that Laurence (me) tries to get a bottle of water form one of the college vending machines but the machine appears broken and he begins to become annoyed with it. His friend Adam confidentiality walks past and helps Laurence out with the machine by beating it up, a few seconds after Adam leaves to go to the field outside and summon Scarce (a YouTuber) who is impersonated by Lewis after Scarce is summoned they begin to run back to Laurence who is waiting by the vending machine. after they all meet up the 3 of them begin to beat up the vending machine. after another couple of seconds of fighting with the vending machine the bottle of water drops out and Laurence picks up the bottle and leaves acting as if nothing happened. 

 Our roles all varied in different stages of creating the film. Michelle created the storyboard and the initial plot as some background information, she also helped and gave her opinion when creating the film and editing it. Lewis changed the plot slightly to add 'Scarce' into it. As we were making our Depict film funny we thought it would fit and make it better. Lewis acted in the film, and did some of the editing, he actually showed us how to do it as well. Adam was an actor in the film, although at first he didn't want to. And he didn't want to be the main role, he ended up being the opposite to what he wanted. Although it took many takes to try and get it on point without laughter it was worth it, because looking back at it the acting was good. Adam also did some of the paperwork, I think he did the shot list. I, starred in the film too. He was also one of the main, "main" characters. All the acting from all the boys was good. i took part in the editing and edited and downloaded all of the files onto the Mac. At first, the group wasn't really communicating, but I think throughout the process we formed more as a group and actually produced group work as a team.

Essay- for my depict work I am required to create a short 90 seconds film about any Topic that we wanted. for us we decided to create a short comedy skit about an over dramatic fight about a student fighting a vending machine. The group consisted of Me, Lewis, Adam and Michelle and we decided to go with this idea after going through a list of initial ideas that we made. The only equipment we used for this is a camera and bi-pod when filming this . we didn't have to use any means of transportation, material or vehicle hire since our filming consisted in and just outside the college grounds. which means we didn't have to worry about facility hire or location release forms either. all of the time spent creating this video was spent during college time in out media lesson which meant that we did not require to set any dates outside of college to do any work which includes the use of camera equipment as we could borrow it during college times and not outside of those times. for the 4 of us Me, Lewis and Adam were actors in our short film while Michelle worked the camera. the only equipment we used for our recording was a Nikon camera and Bipod  which allowed us to record all the needed footage for us. for our recording we followed along our storyboard and any ideas we had while recording we would adapt in our storyboard.

Initial idea post (proposal)- For our coursework we were required to create a short 90 second short film for DepicT which allows people no matter the budget to create their short film with any meaning which they place on their website and is added to their end of year composition. this allows people to show off their abilities as film makers and possibly show inspiration to other aspiring creators to make good films. For our work we came up with the idea of creating a comedy short film as watching some of the previous DepicT films from other years and seeing how they could create a comical and meaning short film. we went through a good number of ideas but we finally decided to create a over dramatic short film about someone having a fight with a vending machine as we saw a similar idea on YouTube. We decided to stick with idea as fighting with an inanimate object was a funny idea to all of us.      

Shot list- For the shot list we made about 13-14 different shot ideas in total all in order of what we would do. In the list we included certain distances and camera angles that we would use during the filming for example our establishing shot started with a long shot as myself walked into frame towards the vending machine which then cut to our second shot which was on our list which was a close up of me putting money into the vending machine. Further on the list we had shots. we had a lot more ideas within our storyboard that we wanted to include such as someone using a gun against the vending machine and adding more shots with different angles but because we could only have the film around 90 seconds long we decided to cut down on most of the less important shots and stick with more important story shots.

Storyboard- For our storyboard we decided to go towards a comical story for our short film so most of the drawing's and story ideas was centred towards  trying to be funny for example the main plot of our short film was someone trying to get a drink from a vending machine and the machine did not work, so we decided to turn it into a over dramatic fight scene and we would also included other people and also "summon" someone to help fight the vending machine. our film didn't really have a message to it as we were more centred towards making a more comical film and we thought that we would be better creating the film if we didn't focus on creating a narrative and stick to making a more ridiculous and comedy focused short film.

Risk Assessment- For our risk assessment we didn't really have a lot of risks as we were not using any props and everything was filmed within college grounds or the park just outside. some of our risks were things such as crossing the road, poor weather conditions (slippery roads) and and the vending machine as we would have to "fight" it we had to make sure we don't overdo anything and end up hurt.

Release for talent- Everyone that acted within our film had to fill in a release for talent form which allows the distributor to publish the short film with our permission release talent forms also allows the actors to not worry about getting cold feet as the form will protect you from any legal risk. as i was also under the age of 18 i was required to get a parent or guardian's signature which also allows the distributor to publish the film with their permission      

Evaluation- For our task we were required to create a short film for DepicT. for our video we decided to create a comedy skit of a over-dramatic fight with a vending machine as one person is unable to retrieve the item they purchased. The group consisted of myself, Lewis, Michelle and Adam and we spent around to 4 lessons recording all of our shots and another 3 to edit everything together, throughout our recording and editing we had comedy in mind, so we sometimes decided to change some of the ideas we had in our shot list and added in certain pieces into our film. for editing we added a number of different editing techniques into our film like silly zoom in's on people's faces, changing the pitch of people's voice's and adding green screen characters.

The full concept of out film was about someone who was having difficulty with a vending machine which then evolves into an over-dramatic fight with the person and their friend who joins in until he decides to summon Scarce ( a well known youtuber) who also joins with the silly fight. The actors were myself, Adam and Lewis and the person recording was Michelle. In the group I took some of shots in the recording and did some of the acting within the film and during the editing we all took part in deciding what to add from our recording into the final project and Lewis did most of the editing effects such as adding in the green screen character and zoom in's in total we recorded around 3 to 4 minutes worth of footage and we were to record everything we wanted to in the short list and anything else we decided to add in it would have been around 8 to 10 minutes worth of footage to use but DepicT video's are only around 90 seconds long so having that much footage would be an extreme amount of footage to go through and decide if it would be in the final version of the short film.
our film used only 2 props which was the water bottle and the pieces of paper with the words double upload on it apart from those 2 items the rest of our video didn't need any other props unless we were I include footage that we didn't get to record as we were looking into using a number of props.

Candy Crime

Candy Crime is a teenage crime mixed with a sudden comedy. the films starts out with a group of teenagers following a little girl and demands the candy she has, after she gives the candy to the teenager she demands the key ring from him which he gives. The girl then pulls an even larger piece of candy in which the boy throws the other one and tells her to give it to him. The girl refuses in which makes the bit pull out a gun on the girl. The girl looks surprised and then trades the candy for the gun, the teenagers then walk away while the girl put the gun in her bag. 

This short film is very well made and ended of very funny        

Cool Unicorn Bruv

This short film is very comical, it starts out with a man trying to sell his bike by lying about how it's made when suddenly a man walks past with a unicorn and catches the attention of the man the bike is being sold to. the man with the unicorn then goes on about how the unicorn allows him to travel the cosmos and grant wishes and the other man gets jealous and tells him to leave. 

This short film brings in a strange mixture of both fantasy and London people which works extremely well and ends off with an hilarious short film.     

Don't Feed The Ducks

I enjoyed this short film because it starts out very simplistically and then suddenly takes a complete turn. the short cartoon starts out with a cartoon man feeding a lonely duck, but the duck demands more and suddenly gross giant legs and tramples over the man. the duck attacks the city and then lays an egg on earth. this short films message is quite confusing as it could mean a number of things but it doesn't fall flat with it's animations.
